Many people are trying to lose weight, feel better, and/or look better, but they struggle because they become frustrated and overwhelmed. It doesn’t have to be that way! Getting healthy and strong can actually be simple and fun!  When you focus on the 3 basic pillars of health… fitness, nutrition and accountability… you will be set up for success!

Fitness: Sweat is NOT a bad word

You do not have to live in a gym to have a healthy body! 30-45 minutes of exercise at least 3 days a week is sufficient. I choose to do “scardio” training to keep my body in shape. What is SCARDIO you ask? It is a combination of Strength and Cardio in one 30-45 minute program. It hits all the key muscle groups, burns fat, builds muscle and boosts metabolism!  The style of workout and when you work out is up to you. My recommendation is to find an activity or program you enjoy and a time of the day that works best for you! Because the best workout is the workout you will actually do!

Nutrition: Eat right… most of the time

Have you heard that getting healthy is 80% what you do in the kitchen and only 20% what you do in the gym? For example, if you eat a double cheeseburger meal from the fast food place down the road, you’d have to do jumping jacks for 6 hours straight to burn off just those calories. YIKES! Fueling your body properly is key to living a healthy life. But notice, I said eat right… MOST OF THE TIME. A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you have to “diet”. It just means that the majority of your meals are comprised of healthy foods. You can still have the cake… on occasion! My biggest recommendation when it comes to nutrition is to FOOD PREP. If you fail to plan, you should plan to fail!  But if you spend one day a week prepping “good for you” foods that you enjoy, when it is time to eat, you will make better choices.

Accountability: No one succeeds alone

Achieving your goals will take time, determination, hard work and commitment. We know this!  And according to the American Society of Training and Development, if you set a goal and share that goal with someone, you have a 65% chance of achieving it.  However, if you set a goal and bring on an accountability partner, someone you will check in with regularly regarding your goals, you now have a 95% chance of success! Unfortunately, this is the one pillar most people skip.  And that is why my biggest and best recommendation all around is… have an accountability coach! This person will walk alongside you the entire journey and serve as a guardrail to keep you on track.

You owe it to yourself, and your family, to get healthy and strong! Start focusing on these three pillars today and live healthier than you ever thought possible.
