Do you feel like you’re eating healthy, like REALLY eating healthy, but nothing is changing with your health… your weight… your energy… your body? You’re feeling completely frustrated in the process and wonder why you even bother?

Well, you are not alone. So often, when I meet someone for the first time as they explore bringing me on as their health coach, they say… “I eat really healthy… I’m not sure why I’m not progressing!”

I’ve said it before, and I will say it over and over again… ACCOUNTABILITY is the most important piece of your “getting healthy” puzzle. This is One Step You Can NOT Skip. Without it, success typically won’t happen, or it won’t last. There are different types of accountability… there is self-accountability, one-on-one accountability coaching, and group accountability. People who implement all three types of accountability into their journey have the best results.

Today, I want to cover one of the self-accountability tools you can implement easily that doesn’t cost anything!

FOOD LOGGING

That’s right, keeping a detailed log of everything you eat and drink… every sip and every bite… will help you see results. As a matter of fact, Duke University did a study on the impact food logging has on weight loss and found that people who logged everything they consumed, along with their weight, lost more weight without much input on their diet… AND they kept it off after the 3-month study concluded.

Now imagine, if they had incorporated all 3 pillars of health into their journey – fitness, nutrition, and accountability – how successful they could have been! The participants in the study lost an average of 6 lbs in 3 months just by logging and being mindful of what they were eating. My clients lose an average of 12 lbs in just 1 month when they incorporate fitness, nutrition, and accountability!

As a great starting point, you should start logging your food TODAY. How? First, download a free food logging app (ex: LoseIt, MyFitnessPal, etc…). Then, start logging! You will want to weigh and measure your food so that you are accurately logging.

Each day, you should record:

  • Food you eat – weighed and measured
  • Drinks you drink – measured
  • Your weight – really only need to do this once per week

If you are truly ready to take your health to the next level, you should begin logging all these things AND add an accountability coach into the mix. With the help of your coach, you will be able to find any food intolerances you may be suffering from, any triggers that lead to poor choices, any choices you are making that aren’t really the most nutritious, etc…

I want you to imagine what life will be like after doing these simple steps… logging your food and hiring a coach… you are going to FEEL better, LOOK better, and LIVE better!! And don’t forget, accountability is only one of the 3 Must Haves to get Healthy. You owe it to yourself and everyone you love to live your healthiest, best life.
